R&D Tax Consultation: In the Emergency Budget in June the Government announced that there would be consultation on the R&D tax regime in the Autumn. This follows James Dyson's report 'Ingenious Britain' which was commissioned by the Government and issued in March 2010. The report states that R&D tax credits should be refocused on high tech companies, small businesses and new start-ups in order to stimulate a new wave of technology. It is currently not clear how or if these recommendations will be implemented or which companies may be affected, but it is likely that changes may lead to an increased benefit for small technology companies.
