Thorold Barker is Editor: Europe, Middle East and Africa, for The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires. He also oversees all of the Journal's global live journalism and events. Thorold started at the Journal in 2008, when he relaunched Heard on the Street as the paper’s flagship commentary and analysis column on global business and finance.
Prior to that, he worked at the Financial Times for ten years. This included a stint editing the paper's Lex column in the US from 2004 to 2008, while also writing on technology, the economy and Wall Street.
He started his career at strategy consulting firm Bain and Company in London and Johannesburg, after graduating from Trinity College, Cambridge University with a degree in modern languages.
