Central to achieving this flexibility and adaptability will be the development of strong transferable skills.

We’ve identified a set of enduring skills that are prominent across many occupations in the UK workforce, which can be applied in many different contexts. Our contention is that jobs which require the deepest level of these transferable skills are best-placed for the future. 

These most commonly needed attributes can be grouped into three categories: 

Communication: Ability to listen, respond and express ideas effectively in different contexts, influencing others.

Strategic: Ability to exercise judgement, leadership and creativity to decide the way forward in complex environments

Analytic: Ability to acquire new knowledge, process information and draw accurate conclusions
