Case study

Delivering a lasting legacy

Last summer we witnessed nine years of relentless planning culminate in one of the greatest Olympic and Paralympic Games in history. It was a journey that saw us dedicate 750,000 hours of integral expertise, delivered through over 800 of our Partners and people, to support the Organising Committee through some of their most complex challenges – including designing and delivering LOCOG’s £700m procurement programme and managing the construction of five of London’s most spectacular temporary venues.

A year on, our commitment to the legacy of the Games continues. We’re having an impact right across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – supporting the transformation of the media centre into what is already becoming a world-renowned technology hub (iCity) and a real source of growth and innovation, as well as assisting with the establishment of thousands of new private and affordable homes – including the transformation of the Athletes Village into East Village, the first legacy neighbourhood after the Games and a new landmark community for London.

We’re also proud to be maintaining our backing for the British Paralympic Association, as their Official Partner, on their journey to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. At the London Games, the funds we raised (over £1m) through Deloitte Ride Across Britain helped enable the ParalympicsGB team to win more medals than ever before and now our commitment is to help the BPA maintain this incredible momentum as they continue to inspire the nation to think differently about disability.

We backed London’s bid because we believed that the Games would be a force for good – a catalyst for social change, economic renewal and business growth, and nine years on that belief is already being repaid as opportunity flourishes in east London and beyond.
